a day in the life

7:00 AM:

You start your day at Beth’s Kitchen Cafe, a popular local spot known for its fresh-baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and great coffee. You grab your favorite order and chat with a couple of familiar faces before heading out.

8:00 AM:

You head to work at one of the summer camps on the shores of Long Lake. As the camp director, your job is equal parts logistics, mentorship, and community building. The Bridgton Lakes Region has been home to summer camps for over a century, and families from across the Northeast send their kids here every year. This morning you’re finalizing the week’s activity schedule — canoeing, archery, a hike up Pleasant Mountain, and a campfire with s’mores.

12:00 PM:

It’s lunchtime, and you eat with the campers in the dining hall. The energy is loud, happy, and chaotic in the best way. After lunch, you check in with your counselors and make sure the afternoon waterfront activities are properly staffed.

1:00 PM:

After a quick break, you walk down to the lake to supervise the afternoon swim and kayak sessions. The water is clear, the sun is warm, and the loons are calling from across the lake. This is the part of the job that reminds you why you chose it.

5:00 PM:

As the camp day winds down, you take a few minutes for yourself. You walk over to Pondicherry Park, right behind downtown Bridgton, and cross the covered bridge. The park has quiet trails along Stevens Brook — a peaceful reset after a full day with kids.

7:00 PM:

For dinner, you head downtown and grab a burger and a craft beer at a spot near the Magic Lantern Theater. Bridgton’s Main Street has a handful of great restaurants and shops, and the walkable downtown is one of the things you love about living here.

8:30 PM:

After dinner, you walk next door to the Magic Lantern Theater to catch a first-run movie. The three-screen theater also has a pub with beer and wine, making it more than just a movie — it’s a community gathering place.

10:00 PM:

Finally, you return to your home, feeling grateful for the vibrant community and the natural beauty that surrounds you in Bridgton. As you wind down for the night, you reflect on the fulfilling day you've had and look forward to more adventures and connections in this friendly and scenic city.
