a day in the life

7:00 AM:

You start your day with coffee at home. Oxford is a rural town in the foothills of western Maine, and the morning is quiet. If you want a café breakfast, Cafe Nomad in nearby Norway is a short drive and worth the trip — it’s one of the best coffee shops in the Oxford Hills region, known for its artisanal coffee and homemade baked goods.

8:00 AM:

You head to your workplace at Oxford Casino Hotel, the largest entertainment and hospitality venue in the area. As a hospitality professional, you work in a fast-paced environment — whether it’s managing guest services, working the floor, or coordinating events. The casino is one of the region’s largest employers.

12:00 PM:

It’s time for your lunch break, and you decide to explore the outdoors. You pack a picnic and drive a few minutes to Roberts Farm Preserve in neighboring Norway, a conservation area with scenic trails and open fields that’s popular with walkers, runners, and mountain bikers. You find a peaceful spot to enjoy your lunch surrounded by nature.

1:00 PM:

After your break, you return to Oxford Casino Hotel and continue your work. Whether it’s assisting guests, coordinating with your team, or handling behind-the-scenes operations, you take pride in creating great experiences for visitors.

5:00 PM:

As the workday ends, you head to Thompson Lake, a beautiful lake just a short drive from Oxford. You go for a swim, paddle a kayak, or simply sit on the shore and enjoy the views. The lake is one of the cleanest in Maine and a real gem of the Oxford Hills.

7:00 PM:

For dinner, you drive into Norway and grab a table at 290 Main Street, a popular pub and grill on Norway’s Main Street. The menu has burgers, sandwiches, shareable plates, and a full bar. They also host live music and community events.

8:30 PM:

After dinner, you may choose to visit the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Performing Arts Center. They frequently host live performances, including theater productions, music concerts, and dance recitals. You enjoy the cultural experience and support the local talent.

10:00 PM:

Back at home, you settle in for the evening. The quiet of rural Oxford is one of its best features — no traffic noise, just the sound of crickets and the occasional owl.

11:00 PM:

Finally, you return to your home, feeling grateful for the vibrant community and the diverse range of activities available in Oxford. As you wind down for the night, you reflect on the fulfilling day you've had and look forward to more adventures and connections in this friendly and dynamic city.
