a day in the life
7:00 AM:
You start your day with a cup of coffee at a local spot in Mexico (the town next door), Simply Vibes Cafe. You order your usual and chat with a few regulars before heading to work
8:00 AM:
You head to your workplace at the ND Paper mill, one of the largest employers in the region. The Rumford mill has been producing paper for over a century and remains central to the town’s economy. As a skilled worker in the paper industry, your job may involve operating machinery, quality control, or maintenance. You take pride in contributing to an operation with deep roots in this community.
12:00 PM:
It's time for your lunch break, and you decide to take a relaxing stroll along the Riverwalk Path. This scenic trail runs alongside the Androscoggin River, offering beautiful views of the water and surrounding nature. You bring a packed lunch and find a bench to enjoy your meal while taking in the serene atmosphere.
1:00 PM:
After your break, you return to work and continue your shift at the mill. The work is steady and the team is tight-knit — many of your coworkers have been here for years.
5:00 PM:
As the workday ends, you head to Black Mountain for a hike. In winter, Black Mountain is a ski area; in summer, the trails offer great hiking with panoramic views of the River Valley. You enjoy the fresh mountain air and the sense of accomplishment as you reach the top.
7:00 PM:
For dinner, you head to a local restaurant downtown. Rumford has a handful of solid options — from comfort food diners to pizza spots. You grab a meal, maybe catch up with friends, and enjoy the relaxed pace of the evening.
8:30 PM:
After dinner, you take a walk through town or head home for a quiet evening. Rumford’s community events, sports leagues, and seasonal activities keep things lively even in a small town.
10:00 PM:
You return home feeling grateful for the steady work, the natural beauty of the River Valley, and the close-knit community that makes Rumford home.
