Located in mid-coast Maine, Muscongus Bay Aquaculture comprises a shellfish hatchery, nursery and two farms. At our hatchery, on the Medomak River, we have been producing high-quality, fast-growing, and disease-resistant shellfish seed for growers up and down the east coast for over 20 years.
At the nursery, in our 8 floating upwellers, oyster spat grow from less than 1mm to over 9mm. We clean, grade, and package them to be sent to farms up and down the East Coast.
A portion of that seed is set aside and sent to our own farms on the Damariscotta River. This is where we raise our renowned and beloved Wawenauk and Dodge Cove Pemaquid oysters to market size.
