The Maine Venture Fund is a professionally managed venture capital fund investing exclusively in Maine companies that demonstrate a potential for high growth and public benefit. The Fund has been actively investing in Maine companies since 1997, after its creation by an act of the Maine Legislature in 1995. The fund has received $13 million in capital contributions from the State of Maine and operates as a revolving, "evergreen" fund.

Internship Program: Yes The Fund, through an application process with select New England colleges and universities, offers one MBA student, midway through their MBA experience, a summer internship opportunity with the MVF. This internship is designed to provide the student with in-depth experience working at a venture capital fund and with portfolio companies. The internship will be project oriented. The intern will work on internal projects for the Fund as well as projects for one or two of the Fund’s portfolio companies. Projects will be determined both by the needs of the Fund and the interests/skills of the intern.
