We welcome our nation’s governors and their guests to Maine for this week’s National Governor’s Association meeting. You are here at a special time – not just because summertime in Maine is delightful – but because our state is on the move.
We’re executing a 10-year economic plan first set in motion by Governor Janet Mills in 2019. Through a strategy centered on people and innovation, the plan seeks to grow wages by 10 percent, increase productivity by 10 percent, and grow Maine’s workforce by 75,000 by the year 2030.
Here in Maine, Live + Work in Maine and FocusMaine exist to attract and retain talent, while building and supporting the industries of Maine’s future. It’s our mission to ensure the world knows what the state has to offer. By working collaboratively, we bring together Maine’s best minds and visionary leaders to achieve success for the people, businesses, and communities in the state and for those interested in calling Maine home. Our strategies are working, and we invite you to join us in the growth ahead.
During your stay, consider Maine your home. Consider moving here or convincing your company to expand here through remote talent attraction or relocation. Next time you drive up I-95 or deboard a plane at PWM, you’ll notice signs that say, “Welcome Home”. Can you see yourself living and working in Maine? We can, and we’ll show you the way.
